More enemy tactics

The minute you were born again into Christ, the devil became your enemy.  Before that, you were no threat to him.  But once you have the power of God living inside of you through the Holy Spirit living in you, he wants to destroy you.  

I hate to even talk about him!  But as Christians, we must be hyper-alert to his ways in these last days so we can stand our ground, hold fast to our faith, love others, and be bolder than ever in our witness for Christ.  

The devil is a liar.  The devil is a destroyer.  The devil hates.  But his tactics are usually more subtle than obvious.  He is crafty and sneaky.  He works through people and situations.  He is trying to:

wear you out
discourage you
discredit you
get you to sin
get you to doubt
get you upset
get you to walk in the flesh
get you to lose heart
tempt you to give up altogether
show you a supposed easy way out
get you to hurry and rush God's timing
get you to settle for less than God's best for your life
get and keep you angry about something or someone
distract you with what the world offers
keep you in bondage
get you off course
keep you thinking bad thoughts about yourself, others, or your situation

If you have experienced one or more of these (and who hasn't?!), then you have experienced the wiles of the devil.  

Let's combat each and every one of these with God's truth.

wear you out                Stand strong in Christ and His strength
discourage you            Be encouraged in the love of the Lord
discredit you                God protects you
get you to sin                You have the power to overcome and resist sin
get you to doubt            God will increase your faith
get you upset                The peace of Christ belongs to you
get you to walk in the flesh                Let us walk in the Spirit and make no provision for the flesh
get you to lose heart                            Do not grow weary in doing good
tempt you to give up altogether            Persevere in trusting Christ
show you a supposed easy way out                Stay on the narrow path with Jesus
get you to hurry and rush God's timing            Wait on God's timing
get you to settle for less than God's best for your life        God's plan for your life is the very best for you
get and keep you angry about something or someone        Forgive everyone
distract you with what the world offers                Temporary pleasures that offer no real peace
keep you in bondage                You are set free in Christ
get you off course                    Get back on track by worshiping the Lord
keep you thinking bad thoughts about yourself, others, or your situation        Dwell on what is good

Remember these things in the RH column when you are in the thick of the battle, under attack.  Recognize what is going on and stand your ground in Christ!

Though we have a formidable foe, each and every one of his attacks and wiles and schemes against us can be thwarted with God's truth, by walking in the Spirit, and by looking to and claiming Scripture instead of listening to the enemy's lies.

Christ won the battle against evil and the devil on Calvary.  It is over for the devil.  His days are numbered.

Christ defeated the devil
We are in Christ
We defeat the devil through Christ's power in us

We have the authority of Christ in us to tear down and refute every single attack coming against us.  

God is fighting for you!  

God wants us to have discernment to see the attacks for what they are.  The Lord does not want us to stay bound ever!  Every miracle Jesus performed on earth was to set someone free.  Free from lies, free from pain, free from doubt, free from legalism, free from old ways of thinking.  Free, free, free!

Stay close to Jesus!  Abide in Him!  Know who you are in Christ and what you have in Him and dwell on these things!

I have been waiting for some email responses lately, some of which can potentially change my life.  It has been nerve wracking for me. I've prayed about it, gave it all to God, and yet it still weighs on my heart and mind - the uncertainty, the wondering, and the not knowing. It's hard to truly let go sometimes.  I believe I trust God with my whole heart.  And yet when there are some issues on the line that affect my life, affect my immediate future, and just plain can either make life harder or easier for me, I give in to anxiety. Believing in God's love for you

In the age of "unfriending" and "ghosting," divisiveness and polarizing, it is more crucial than ever that we be grounded in God's personal love for us. It is very easy to fall into the trap of comparing God's love for us to people's love for us. God's love is unlike human love in every possible, imaginable way.  The love we give and receive from others is but a taste, a tiny glimpse, of God's vast love for us.  They really cannot be compared at all, if we are honest with ourselves. People can be very fickle.  People change.  People have issues of their own that they are either dealing with or in denial of.  People can be looking more to get love than to give love.  Most wait to give love until they get it from another first.  It is the rare person who gives love freely without expectation. The number one thing I want Christians to understand is this.  There is nothing in us, in and of ourselves, that can pull off the Christian life. Now let's pause right here.   If the "Christian life" means nothing more to you than attending church and trying to be a "good person," you haven't a clue as to what it is truly about. God calls us to be holy. God calls us to love each other. God calls us to live a life worthy of Himself, His calling for us. God calls us to forgive others. God calls us to put Him first above all else (including reputation, money, and family). The question we must face is this: are we able to accomplish any of these things on our own? The answer: no way, no how, not in a billion years.  Maybe outwardly, but not from our own inner selves. Nehemiah completes his work

We learn in chapter 5 of Nehemiah that the government was overtaxing the Jews.  Nehemiah's response to this had various stages. First, he was angry.  Then he thought about it. Let's pause here.  How many of us give in to anger over injustice only to "live" there instead of regrouping and giving it thought?  Do we tend to let our emotions get the best of us?  Or do we move on into rational thought instead?  It's hard to do sometimes, but very possible! Nehemiah's response after he gave it some thought was to confront the powers that be over their misdeeds.  He told them flat out that they were taking advantage of his people.  He said directly, "The thing that you are doing is not good." (v 9)  That took guts! Then, Nehemiah told the governor to fear God and restore to the Jews everything they had stolen from them.
