In the know
God's wisdom is perfect. God's knowledge is unlimited. God is omniscient.
Ask Him anything, He knows the answer. Will He tell you? He promises to give wisdom to those who ask Him.
Wisdom for what? Knowledge for knowledge sake? Wisdom to "get rich?" How God answers us has a lot to do with our hearts, our motives.
If we want wisdom to know His will, He will oblige. He does not always answer us at once, in a tidy sentence. Sometimes He does.
But much of the time He walks with us as the answer unfolds. Being the perfect Teacher that He is, He wants us to truly know and learn, not just gather facts or answers.
So, for example, if I ask Him for wisdom about a situation, He usually tells me a bit about what is going on. He speaks to my spirit. He leads me to certain Scripture passages that reveal the true nature of the circumstance.
When I want to know what to do, that may take a bit more time. He shows me as I go. He has never once given me a five-year plan. Oh He is already there, make no mistake. He exists out of time (i know, blows your mind, right?) so He knows exactly where I will be five years from now. He knows where you will be. Now if you really want your mind blown, multiply that by upwards of seven billion souls - He knows exactly where each one of them will be, too. That truth alone should make us bow down and worship Him! What a God!
Wisdom is knowing what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. Wisdom is taking the right action in an impossible situation. Wisdom is knowing when to talk and when not to.
Wisdom is not a one-time gift to open. God is always pouring out His wisdom to us, every moment we live. The question is, are we receiving it? Do we want it? Or do we think we know better? Even writing that sentence feels absurd! How could anyone ever think they know better or more than God?!
Yet people live their lives every day out of His will, without seeking His wisdom at all. Why would we want to live like that when we have an omniscient God waiting to impart His wisdom to us?
Ask and you shall receive. But don't ask amiss.
Ask and be willing to do what He tells you. Jesus told the rich young ruler what he needed to do. Supposedly the ruler was seeking Jesus' wisdom when he asked Him what he needed to do to inherit eternal life. But his response showed that he wanted the knowledge but wasn't willing to act on it. So he knew the answer because Jesus told him, but then he walked away without heeding Jesus' advice. That is not wisdom! Read here for the full encounter: The rich young ruler
As for current world events, if we stay close to the Lord, He will reveal to us snippets (we couldn't handle the entire unfolding all at once!) of what is really going on and why. Why is this important? Because we need to know what days we are living in so that we are prepared, and so that we are not tossed about by every "doctrine" that is out there regarding what is happening in our world.
These are strange times and we all want and need comforting right now. The best comfort is being in the arms of Jesus, seeking His wisdom so that we can rest peacefully knowing that He is not up there wringing His hands about all of this but is in absolute control. He gives us wisdom because He is wisdom.
The world says we need a vaccine (yes, it is a good thing).
Jesus says we need Him.
The world wants to get back to the way things were.
Jesus tells us to trust Him even if they never get back that way.
The world looks to science and "experts" for answers.
All the fullness of Deity dwells in Christ. He alone has the answers, He is the answer.
If you want to be in the know - and who doesn't? - then get with and stick with the Lord. He is omniscient. He knows exactly what is happening and what is going to happen. And He gives us all the wisdom we need to live fruitful and peaceful lives in any and every circumstance.
Believe He will answer you! But know that He doesn't tell us necessarily what we want to hear, but He is always spot on. Trust Him!
