How do we glorify God?

God humbles us.  He brings us to the point where we realize our need for Him, our dependence upon Him, and how we cannot do anything apart from Him.

Only God knows the heart of the person who may say aloud, "God gets all the glory!"  We can say the words and not really mean them, or we can never say them and simply go about doing everything we do to please Him.  That is what gives God the glory.

God is glorious!  His glory fills the temple!  We cannot even imagine just how glorious He is!

When Jesus performed miracles - acts which are impossible for humans to do in and of themselves - God received the glory.

But we do not have to do miracles in order for God to get the glory in our lives.

I've seen it all too often.  The Christian leader whose "charisma" and "personality" get in the way of Christ being seen in them.  I see more of who they are than I see Jesus.

But when I see or hear a Christian who is not constantly talking about him or herself, when I sense that God has truly humbled them, I see Jesus in them.

Our getting out of the way and letting Christ reign completely in us, this brings Him glory.

When we take our frustrations, concerns, worries and the like to Jesus, and trust Him to perfect all that concerns us, this brings Him glory.

Are we even concerned about God’s glory? We should be. We are not here to get glory for ourselves, as we see on social media ad nauseum.

Being a true Christian is totally counter cultural. We no longer live for what the world offers.

Are we willing to be set apart for God’s purposes even though we may look like absolute weirdos to ignorant onlookers?

When will we surrender to Christ? Because the only thing keeping us from full on surrender to Him is that we don’t trust Him. There. I said it!

We may have heard that His plan and will are good for our lives, but it may not be the kind of “good” we were hoping for, so we take back the reins and remain as god of our lives.

This, I believe, is why we see so little of God’s glory in the lives of some (most?) Christians. It is because there is room for only one person on the throne of our hearts. And if Christ isn’t on it, He gets no glory.

It is a simple recipe. We let Christ rule in our hearts, lives, and minds and then He receives the glory.

Will you relinquish your “right” to rule? Jesus did and He is King of kings and Lord of lords.

Let’s keep the end game in mind. We are here as God-glorifiers!
