Let Christ love you
To be found in Christ is to be known. Fully. But how many of us can stand being fully known? We know all of our dark sides, our worst moments, our deepest insecurities and longings. We know the seemingly unlovable parts of ourselves.
No matter how much, if any, unconditional love we have received from others, the fact of the matter is, no one knows and loves us as Christ does. Fully. Intimately. Truly.
Christ knows everything we've ever been through, everything we've endured, all the ways we've been treated and mistreated. No one else on the face of the earth knows us as well - not even we ourselves.
He knows why we react the way we do - our conditioned responses. He knows how much and when we hurt inside. He knows that He alone can fill our hearts, love us, and fulfill us.
When we realize this - that only in Christ we are truly found and known, it does several things.
First of all, we are relieved! Finally, we can be ourselves with the One Who knows everything about us and loves us still. Talk about full disclosure!
We are relieved because we can let our guard down. Christ is trustworthy. He sees all of the blots and flaws in us caused by sin and loves us regardless. He never points out our flaws to shame us or make us feel "less than," as some people are wont to do.
Whenever He has pointed out something in me that needs converting, He has always done so with the utmost tender care, love, and understanding. So much so that I actually want to change!
Secondly, it can be scary to be so fully known. Deep down, we know we are unworthy of such a great and all-encompassing love. If we are honest with ourselves, we know it is only the grace of God that accepts us fully. All of our quirks, flaws, inconsistencies melt away in His loving Presence.
This is what heaven will be! The love, love, love all around.
I feel that we only catch a glimpse of this Divine love this side of heaven. It makes me hungry for more.
In His love, we can:
rest
relax
let go
be at peace
trust Him
be free
Who wouldn't want that kind of love?!
As you read this, is Christ wooing you to Himself? Let Him! It doesn't matter if you feel worthy - none of us are! - His love makes us worthy.
Give in to His all-encompassing, never-ending, unconditional love. Let Christ love you.
