Is God’s Omnipotence enough?
God is in control.
God’s got this.
You may have heard, read, or even said these words yourself.
Yet do we really believe this when surrounded by tumultuous circumstances?
Why hasn’t He intervened yet?
He is waiting for us to stay at rest in the midst of it. To hold our peace no matter what. He is training us, kiddos.
He is waiting for us to stop arguing, reasoning, defending and going around the same mountain of crazy that can never be fixed by these things like reasoning and trying to figure it out; not in a million years.
Let's do our best to learn what God is trying to teach us, do in us, so that He can step in and do what only He can do! We do out part so that He can do His. When we team up with God, miracles happen! Or at the very least, we get through the day with His love and joy in our hearts instead of disarray, confusion, or stress. Sign me up!
Believe that you truly can do all things through Him including holding your peace in the middle of a raging storm.
This isn’t some Buddhist detachment of your feelings and emotions. Bah! Our emotions are God’s gifts to us! Controlling unruly or damaging emotions is done through surrender. We surrender to the Holy Spirit in us, one of whose fruit is self-control.
So we don't bow down to our emotions, but let God use them to show us what is going on in us. We trust that His Omnipotence is enough in our situation. What else could ever be enough?! Nothing and no one trumps the omnipotence of God. So why bother living in fear, doubt, worry, stress, and the like?
When I'm feeling overwhelmed, sometimes I like to think of a moons-eye view of the the world. This gives me much-needed perspective on things. Here I am on God's huge, wonderful world with billions of other people. He holds the entire world, not to mention universe, in His hands. So I'm pretty sure that if I do a fast-forward zoom-in from outer space to myself, where I am right now in this moment and place, I know that God does indeed "got this."
He's got me. He's got you. He's got the world. He's got the universe and all other galaxies to boot right in His very capable, omnipotent hands. Ahhh. I sigh, shoulders relaxed, just writing these words.
What are you struggling with these days? Is there anything that God cannot handle? Deep down we all know the answer: Nothing is impossible for God.
When we let go and believe this, even if our problems do not disappear instantly, we can move forward. We can let His peace envelop us. We can press through until we rely on Him and Him alone - not our wits, not our own understanding - but on His grace, mercy, love, and compassion in and toward us.
God's got this - all of your worries and cares - and everything and everyone else in the whole wide world.
Lord Jesus, when I cast my cares on You, sometimes they creep back in on me. Help me to cast them and leave them with You and not take them back, Lord. Help me cherish You, focus on You, more than anything or anyone that concerns me or weighs me down. Lift me up instead, Lord! I leave all of my cares in Your hands to deal with and take care of as only You can, O God. My part is to rest in You and trust and obey You. And Your command to me is, "Peace!" Thank You that I can know and have Your peace, Lord Jesus. Help me abide in Your peace. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
