How to know it is God's will

Some Christians are concerned that when they're not sure of God's will, if they do something anyway - even if it is a good thing - that they will be out of His will.

God knows our hearts.  He is fully aware when we behave out of willfulness and when it is our desire to do His will and not our own.

But discerning God's will can be tricky.

There is His overall will for each of us, and that never changes:  that we know Him.

Problem is, we've confused doing with being  We want to know what to do for God, when all along He is after our being first and foremost.

So what about when we are being who He calls us to be to our utmost and we're still vague, or even clueless, as to the doing part?

We wait.

We wait on God.

Remember, He has all eternity and if we only surrender to it, so do we!

That means that perhaps we will not get to do it all here and now.  In that sense, none of us ever finishes our work here.  Yes, we finish what He gives us to do on earth.  But wait!  There's more!  We will have all eternity to continue to do His will!  Yeehah!

The difference on the other side will be that we will be doing nothing but His will!  There will be no hinderances, no delays, no opposition, no doubts, no fear.  Phew!  Finally!

But for now, when God gives clarity to the doing piece, we must be prepared for all of the obstacles I just mentioned - and more!

For now, we are in a battle.  Our foe, the devil, is opposed to God's plans, will, and purposes.  Ergo, he is against us carrying God's will out!

That is actually how I know when I am in God's will - if I am experiencing opposition in any form (spiritually when the enemy attacks my mind, or from people) - this is how I know I am spot on in His will!

Is there an ease to doing God's will?  Yes, in the sense that He is in it, He gives grace, and we find ourselves doing the impossible by His power that works in us.

But expect hardship, too, when you do God's will!

For now, it is worth it because we have His Presence with us - His beautiful love, power, joy, and grace in and with and for us to accompany us through this earthly life.

For later, it will all be worth it because we will be with Him forever!  Wow!  In His awesome, glorious, wonderful, magnificent Presence forever!  And He has rewards waiting for us!  It boggles the mind because whatever work we do for Him is only possible through Him - we're just vessels - and He rewards us anyway!

So if you really want God's will, then know the basics first of being.  Being loving, kind, forgiving, giving thanks in everything, and staying surrendered to Him.  Out of that, He will give us assignments of doing.  But they are His plans, not ours.  We must give up our own agendas and plans if we really want His.

So let's do it!  Let us go on with Jesus doing His will, His way, and in His timing.  For He is Lord and therefore His will is best!

Dear Lord.  Thank You for Your good, pleasing, and perfect will.  Thank You for including us in Your plans!  Thank You for leading and guiding us.  Help us to always be human beings first, then out of that, empower us to do Your will.  And when the opposition comes, as it will, I pray that You help us to persevere and not stop until Your work is finished.  For You are our King and Your commands are our blueprint! In Jesus' Name.  Amen.
