Knee work

I believe that all prayers to God are good and that He hears every one of them.

But I have found that when I pray on my knees, there is a supernatural power found there.  God still may not answer my prayers in a way that I want, but it is not always about "getting" answers.  Praying on my knees is a faith-builder nonetheless because it draws me closer to Him.

This is because it shows my dependence on God, my need of Him.  The posture of being on my knees reminds me that my place is to be humble before Him.  It reminds me that He is Lord, worthy of my reverence.

Do I believe He hears me better when I pray on my knees?  I do not. I believe that He hears all of our prayers, written, spoken, thought but not spoken out loud, sighs, anywhere, any time, all the time.

But there is something about getting on my knees to pray that calms me, centers me, brings me to a better place simply by doing it.  It is not magic.  But I believe the Lord is pleased to no end when we pray this way.

I believe it shows a humble heart before Him.  We know that we are helpless in some situations and getting on our knees to acknowledge Him as Lord over the situation helps!

I also believe that the devil leaves us alone there on our knees. Boy does he flee!  The enemy hates when we pray on our knees because he is thwarted.

Praying on our knees will also bring up some stuff that we need to deal with.  It is hard to hold a grudge, or worry, doubt, or fear when we come before the Lord of lords in this manner.

We can truly leave it all there with Jesus.  We repent.  We find forgiveness.  We then extend forgiveness.  We have His peace.  We are made whole.

All sorts of wonderful things take place when we pray on our knees.  This is by faith, for sure.  But it is also experiential.  I feel His Presence more readily there on my knees.

God delights to answer our prayers!  But more than that, the act of praying on our knees changes us.

We have somewhere to go to in order that we may:

- bear our trials better
- find peace
- trust God more
- fight spiritual battles (and win!)
- know our place
- see God more clearly
- realize His love and Presence
- know God better

Faith is such a gift!  We do not drum it up.  The more we pray, the more our faith grows.  Faith, after all, is the gift of God.  It is God Himself inside us praying along with us, interceding on our behalf.

Faith is not a gift from God, it is God Himself!  Wow! (see Ephesians 2:8-9)

I urge you to simply try it.  Just do it!  Pray on your knees, if you do not do so already, and watch your relationship with God grow.

Oh Lord.  When your beloved disciple John saw you, he fell at Your feet as dead!  Praying on our knees is but one way we see You as Lord.  We humble ourselves before You because when we really "see" You, we can't help but fall on our knees.  Praying is an act of worship to You, dear Lord.  May we pray on our knees frequently so that we may see more and more of You.  In Jesus' Name.  Amen.
