These three words set me free
I know nothing.
I don't even remember what I was thinking about, but the other day I blurted out this sentence, head lowered humbly before the Lord, and do you know how He replied?
"Now I can use you."
You mean You haven't been using me all along, Lord?!
I believe that the Lord uses us whenever we work for Him, give to Him, give out of our love for Him and to bless others.
But for some reason, it seems like when we admit that the more we think we know, the more we realize we really know nothing, God has more "room" to use us. We get out of His way. We get out of our own way.
Compared to our all-knowing Creator God, we truly know nothing, right? I mean He knows everything about everyone, all science (the stuff yet discovered, too), all wisdom, every number of every hair on every head (boggles the mind), every book ever written, every event in the history of the world (and why), every future event and how it's all going to play out.
When we truly meditate on God's omniscience, we realize that our "knowledge" is about a grain of sand's worth compared to His, if that. And even what little we've got is a gift from Him. After all, He made us!
What do you know? Are you an expert in some field? What do you think you know?
I believe that if we could all get to that place where we can utter, "I know nothing" to God (and admit it to ourselves!), that He will exude more and more of His power, wisdom, and knowledge through us.
It all comes from Him, friends. We owe everything we are, everything we "know," and all we are yet to become to Him and Him alone.
It's all in Him! May we be found more and more in Him, and less and less "in" ourselves.
Oh Lord. I bow down before You and acknowledge You as Lord of all. Your wisdom and knowledge are without limit and it makes me want to worship You here and now, Lord Jesus. Help me always come back to those three words as I walk with You in life: I know nothing Not out of some false humility but out of the truth! And may that confession lead me to greater and greater knowledge of You, Your love, Your Word, Your Presence, Your will, and Your joy. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
